Baby Carli’s Debut

Heather and Brian are good friends of ours and were once in a Bible study group with us. I can remem­ber in dis­cus­sion one evening Heather said that her and Brian were pray­ing for their chil­dren. This was way before they had chil­dren or were even try­ing to have chil­dren. It really made me stop and think for a minute. Most peo­ple start prepa­ra­tion for chil­dren once they find out they are preg­nant. They run out and buy all of the “What to Expect When You’re Expect­ing” books. But Heather hit on some­thing that was so cru­cial to par­ent­ing. More than design­ing the nurs­ery or stock­ing up on dia­pers — chil­dren need their par­ents’ prayers. Becom­ing a par­ent is as much a phys­i­cal adjust­ment as it is an emo­tional and spir­i­tual adjust­ment. Heather and Brian began prepar­ing long before they prob­a­bly ever thought they were, sim­ply by lift­ing up their future chil­dren to God in prayer. God answered those prayers and blessed them with a beau­ti­ful, healthy baby girl named Carli.

We had an absolute blast at this photo ses­sion. This was our first new­born por­trait ses­sion and I’m not sure I ever laughed so hard tak­ing pho­tographs as I did with this lit­tle one. As I went through the pic­tures and nar­rowed down my favorites, I couldn’t help but imag­ine a bub­ble above Carli’s head with var­i­ous cap­tions in them. Check out a cou­ple of them below. Enjoy!

Heather and Brian — thank you so much for giv­ing us the honor of doc­u­ment­ing the new addi­tion to your fam­ily. Carli is absolutely beau­ti­ful and I know the Lord has heard your prayers and is watch­ing over this lit­tle one. We can’t wait to see her grow up into a lit­tle girl. We love you — all three of you!
