I have absolutely fallen in love with this family. The Segerbloms won our family session giveaway and you can read about their story here. After our own family tragedy, I find myself drawn towards people who also suffer. God has just changed my heart in that way — it breaks and wants to help those who also hurt. I long to share our story to bring encouragement. But to be quite honest with you, I often hope for the suffering to share their lives with me to encourage me as well. After learning how painful this life can be, I sometimes find myself waiting for the next tragedy to come around the corner. I love to see other families find joy in the midst of their pain to remind myself that no matter what comes, you can still find joy. The Segerbloms are that example, that reminder, for me.
Dominic is such a trooper in the midst of the difficulties he faces at such a young age and I know that it is due to the peace and security his parents give him. They are his advocate, his strength, and they supply a plethora of joy and happiness in their home. After our session, Adrienne and Scott invited us over for dinner. In case you haven’t been reading the blog that long, Vitaliy and I do not pass up free food. But all joking aside, we were thrilled to be invited into their home and get to experience a little of what their daily life looks like. I’m always curious how families live their lives. What is their family routine? What makes them laugh together? What do they find causes tension? I just have a crazy love affair with humans in general and am constantly hoping to get glimpses into the lives of others. The Segerbloms gave us that peek into their life and I am eternally grateful. I will never forget the things I saw. Things things I felt. Or the things I learned.
Adrienne and Scott — your strength and your faith is both convicting and inspiring. Thank you for opening up your home to us and even more so for opening up your life to us. We are sincerely thankful for your honesty and authenticity. Thank you for not hiding but for sharing your life story. We love that about you! God has used it and will continue to. Give Dominic and Max big hugs from their new friends. We love you all!

Meet The Segerbloms! San Mateo’s Central Park is one of our favorite places for family photos.

Meet the youngest Segerblom — Max. I’m so in love with this picture but really with this cutie. Don’t you just want to give him a big kiss??

And let me introduce you to Mr. Dominic — the star of this show. Vitaliy captured something special in this image. What strength.

A wanna be Vitaliy. He might be interning with us in the near future.

And this is how they are capable of having joy through the pain. Gotta fight for it! Gotta let go and have fun in the midst! Adrienne, you are incredible.

I’ll end with this brotherly moment. One of our favorites!

These are so wonderful ! I love the first black and white of Max and the first one of Dominic is off the charts! Of course the last shot says it all between big brother and little brother.
Thank you thank you! These bring tears of joy to my eyes! It means a lot when friends of mine feel the same way about other friends of mine. I know how much this means to this wonderful family too! I’m honored to be a part of lives that show such meaning and purpose!

Dear Candace and Vitaliy,
I’m speechless. As if your beautiful words weren’t enough, there were the photos. I could have stopped after the first one and been thrilled beyond belief. The timing, yet again, couldn’t have been more perfect (as you know from my message back to you last night). A million hugs and thanks…The Segerbloms
