Halloween came entirely too fast this year. I bought the pumpkins, but definitely never made it around to make the pumpkin man that I wanted. I didn’t have candy to hand out until an hour before the kids showed up. And I did not do any brainstorming for a costume. We were invited to a few Halloween parties, but I just love handing out the candy. Needless to say, we spent a quiet evening at home handing out candy to all the cuties that knocked on our door.
The other reason for celebrating at home is that yesterday was the 4 year anniversary of our first date. We debated the past 4 years if our first date was on the 26th or the 27th. But my husband, being the ultra romantic that he is, searched through his box of memories that he kept and found the receipt from our first date. It was at Joy Yee’s Korean Restaurant in Chicago on October 31, 2004. Is he not the most romantic? I told him last night he must have known I was a keeper because why else would he have kept that receipt. It feels so good to have it confirmed, but it’s so funny that it was on Halloween.
So Happy Halloween to all of you readers out there (are there any of you out there?) and Happy Anniversary to my handsome, loving, romantic husband who romanced me on our first date 4 years ago.
By the way, I’d love to hear some great Halloween stories — tell me what you did or dressed up as and leave a note in the comments below.

The candy we handed out that was strategically chosen in case we had leftovers. Reese’s is my favorite and Snickers is Vitaliy’s favorite.

Vitaliy was up until 3:00am carving this pumpkin on Halloween Eve. It’s incredible! This was originally supposed to be the base of my pumpkin man, but I think this is better.

This was pretty much all of our Halloween decorations for this year.

Well we did not have as many visitors as last year. So while we waited, we had a little photo shoot. Check it out!

Somehow Vitaliy did all the fun ones and I did the normal ones. Usually I’m the silly one. But I guess since I was taking the pictures, I was posing him in the silly ways. That explains it.

Ok everyone, time to get ready for Thanksgiving!!

You both definitely seemed in the holiday spirit last night! Peter and I had a very spooky Halloween as he surprised me with a date to Sur La Table, a kitchen store!
He said it was a nod of appreciation to the many bookstore visits I have made as he roams the religious section, ha ha.
Can’t wait for Thanksgiving, I love fall holidays! Oh, and Candace you looked adorable last night, love the wrap!
Great Halloween pictures you two!! Loved your pumkin Vi!! Looks like you had fun!
AMAZING pictures as usual! You two are so talented; you are no doubt going to have a booming business. And it looks like you are having fun in the process. =)
I thought we would have tons of trick or treaters, so I over-prepared on the candy. Too bad it wasn’t the good stuff! (I want your Reeses!) John enjoys handing out the candy, and messing with the kids, like telling them “Merry Christmas” and asking who they are voting for.
You two are so cute. I love all the “halloween orange” you guys are wearing. Vitaliy is a hoot in his pics. The pumpkin he carved is over the top !! Very cool. Is that a bale of hay??? If so, WOW to you two!!
I hung out with the grandkids. They were as adorable as ever. Check out the pics on facebook.
Ah! Halloween. What spooktacular fun. Yes, I spooked Kris out of her mind last night. I blindfolded her on the way to the store and I think she was preparing herself for certain doom. But lo! it turned out to be nothing more than a cooking store. Spooky nonetheless.
Your husband sounds adorable!! And great job on the pumpkin carving!
