My God-Sister

For those of you out there who are still get­ting to know us bet­ter, there is a very impor­tant part of us that you prob­a­bly didn’t know about. This part of us is 17 years old. She is every sense of the phrase “blonde and beau­ti­ful”. She is smart and let me explain what I mean. She came from Ukraine to Amer­ica in 2005 know­ing enough Eng­lish to enroll in school but still had a lot to learn. Two years later she had the top grade in her Eng­lish class. And since this time she con­tin­ues to get straight As in all of her classes. But her accom­plish­ments in school are not what makes her spe­cial to me. What makes Leska spe­cial to me is the fact that she is a gift from God to us. Leska is Vitaliy’s sis­ter and she became a part of our fam­ily legally when Vitaliy and I adopted her in 2007, but she really has been a part of it since 2005 when God called us to take care of her. She is my God-sister as some­one once put it. There is no bet­ter way to describe it than that.

Leska, I love you com­pletely for­ever and ever. God has seen us through many dif­fi­cult times in our lives and has blessed us with even more beau­ti­ful times. I love watch­ing you grow up and see­ing God’s hand lead­ing and guid­ing, lov­ing and for­giv­ing you. You are absolutely beau­ti­ful inside and out. You have been Vitaliy’s sis­ter since you were born into this world but I am so thank­ful that God put us together to be sis­ters as well. I look expec­tantly towards your life ahead. God has great plans for you and I’m hon­ored to be a part of some of those.

Here is Prokopets Studio’s first ad. It is going to be used in a Spring play pro­gram at Leska’s school. This is our favorite pic­ture of Leska that we took back in Decem­ber. By the way, this is our new logo that you see here! Our amaz­ing designer and friend, who we wrote about here, is cur­rently work­ing on our web­site and a redesign of our blog. I am really look­ing for­ward to launch­ing those.
