We are road trip people. It all started with our honeymoon when we got in the car and drove South on Highway 1. We didn’t plan one stop or book one hotel. We just got in the car and drove. I know for some, road trips make you want to scream and possibly jump out of the car while it’s still going but for us it’s very different. I love seeing all the different changes in the landscape, the weather and the people. We jam to our iPod because Vitaliy is the ultimate DJ! We listen to sermons. Mark Driscoll in particular. And the conversations that we have are my absolute favorite part of it all. We have those conversations that you miss out on in the business of life. The kind of conversations that don’t have a time limit on them, aren’t interrupted by your to-do-list, where you can be together, alone, and dream.
I am in love with my calendar. I love adding to it or removing from it. I simply love the freedom to organize my life and have order. It brings me peace. But as much as I’m a to-do-list freak and an organizational junkie — I long to be spontaneous. Thankfully, the Lord blessed me with a husband who is completely free and spontaneous so he helps me loosen up. After our amazing week in Vegas, we weren’t ready to go home just yet. We had three options — Death Valley, Grand Canyon, or Joshua Tree National Park. Because Vitaliy loves to spoil me, we opted for the Grand Canyon. It has been my dream for a long time. It was everything I dreamed of and more. I can’t wait to go again. Here are a few pictures from our adventure.
Have you been to the Grand Canyon? Tell me about your adventure below.
.
I won’t have many descriptions for these because words cannot describe nor a photograph capture the majesty of this place. These are just little glimpses.

Take a close look at this one. Caravan of mules. I’d like to do this sometime. How cool would that be?

This is how I felt every time I was close to the edge.

Especially when Vitaliy went out on the edge to get this shot. My knees still get week when I look at this. Yes, that is the edge of the cliff. We do anything for the shot!

Saved my favorite shot of the day for last.

These pictures are gorgeous — as usual! I am amazed!
Gorgeous pictures! They brought back great memories for Sean. The last one is the best!
I forgot to mention Sean’s adventures in the Grand Canyon (since he’ll never get around to posting here, I’ll post for him)…
he & his friend backpacked for a week there in the summer of 1996. They endured 120-degree heat and stayed in their tents all day and walked at night. They saw lightning storms at night that lit up the canyon bright as day. God’s creation is amazing!
wow! that is an amazing adventure. I definitely would like to go back and do the mules or the rafting. I wouldn’t mind flying over in the helicopter either.
I’m lost for words. Beautiful, gorgeous, what can you say? I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon and you were able to let me see a part of it. Really great pictures guys.
Hi. I found your site through Dana Ferri and have been enjoying your photos for many weeks now. Simply beautiful!
(Btw, when I was 12 my family and I spent a week camping at the bottom of the Canyon — by that gorgeous river. It’s Paradise down there. And guess how our camping gear got down there? Yep, those mules!)
Hey guys! looks like you had a blast! (I love the coke facotry shots) ha! Beautiful, beautiful pictures! Can’t wait to see more from you guys!
I LOVE the simplicity of this blog design– and beautiful images to go with!
OOOOhhh… Ahhhhh.… Im in love! Look at all those sedimentary rocks! Did you guys stumble on any fossils?! =) These are sooo great! I’m sure it was such a breathtaking view! Sooo jealous! I haven’t been yet, but I hope to soon! And I hear from a friend’s mom the donkey rides are pretty neat =) but I think I’d prefer the whitewater rafting down the colorado river…
@Rebekah: So I must know, when you camp down there, how long does it take to get down to the bottom? Can those mules get you all the way in a day? Or are there stops along the way?
Hey guys, I hope next stop is Fresno!!! We’re all ready for ya!
great processing! I love the faded ones … almost like going back to the 1950’s via a photo. well done!
You guys are amazing! I love to travel as well and I and Oleksiy visited this place a few years ago also! Breathtaking!
