Our 25 Randoms

Well I keep seeing these 25 Random Lists on Facebook; I just love reading these things. I love people and I love getting to know others more. There are so many things that we don’t know about our friends and family. For me, I love to go deeper — to really understand people’s hearts. I’m not so sure how deep these will be because I also love being silly and making people laugh. But either way they go, here are 25 Random things about Vitaliy and Candace Prokopets.

1. Vitaliy is Ukrainian and Candace is American.

2. We are both obsessed with Mexican food and could honestly be happy eating it for dinner every night of the week. Unfortunately, the rest of the house doesn’t share the same obsession.

3. Coke rules, Pepsi drools. But you probably figured that one out from this post.

4. U2 and Mark Driscoll changed our lives. (Besides Jesus, of course.)

5. Candace was prom queen in high school. Vitaliy sang “My Heart Will Go On” in high school. (Need I explain more?)

6. Our first date was to a bookstore and it is still one of our favorite places to spend time together.

7. Vitaliy speaks Russian, Ukrainian and English. Candace speaks English and some Spanish.

8. Candace was bit by a black widow. Now Vitaliy kills all spiders that come anywhere close to his princess.

9. One might say that we are a little obsessed with movies. Just a little.

10. Our favorite TV shows are NCIS and Criminal Minds. But we don’t watch them on TV. We download them so that we don’t have to watch the commercials.

11. Vitaliy graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a major in Bible. I am still finishing my degree through Moody online with a major in Bible as well.

12. Vitaliy executed the most amazing marriage proposal. Seriously, the most romantic and thought out engagement ever. (I love you, babes!)

13. Candace is the organized one. Vitaliy is the laid back one. We balance each other out in so many ways.

14. We want to have 4 kids. However, that could change after I experience giving birth.

15. Vitaliy is a super computer nerd. I’ve never seen him unable to solve someone’s computer problem. (This is one reason I married him! Saves me a lot of hassle having an in-home computer technician.)

16. Candace is the loud one; Vitaliy is the quieter one. However, we both laugh LOUD!

17.The first time Vitaliy told me he was falling in love with me this was my response, “What! What did you just say? You cannot say those words to me! Not for at least a long long time.”

18. Vitaliy does performances in the bathroom mirror as he gets ready. I really need to install a camera for these. They are just too hilarious!

19. Candace is a sweet fanatic. (If you’ve ever had my Gooey Butter Cake, you know exactly what I’m talking about.)

20. We value authenticity.

21. We love to laugh but aren’t afraid to cry.

22. The tragedy that we’ve experienced already in life has affected us in ways we can see and in ways we won’t know for a long time.

23. We are optimists and can’t see living life any other way. Life is difficult already, why make it any harder?

24. We are passionate — passionate about photography, about life, about each other, about humankind, about…

25. Jesus Christ is our savior and He is our Lord. This foundational aspect of our lives drives what we do and why we do things.

.

Because posts are so much better with pictures, here is a picture of Vitaliy and I from 2005. It is literally one of my favorite pictures of us because it captures us better than any other image we have of ourselves. In photography, I want the images to be able to speak for the subjects — to reflect their personalities without having to say a word. This is exactly how I feel about this image.

Wait a minute, Candace — I thought you were at least part Ukrainian. And seriously, everyone, if you have never heard their engagement story, you have to experience Candace telling it! Right now, I can even hear her voice inflections at certain parts of it, “And there was this BEAUTIFUL dress…” I want some of that gooey butter cake right now! I love you guys so much, and can’t wait to see you in 3 months!!!

That’s right, Candace had to convince V that she had Ukranian blood! If I remember correctly, he liked her from the beginning but played hard to get. ;-)
