Running of the Bulls

I woke up on Saturday morning and I think I may have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. It was dark and gloomy outside; the rain consistently hit against our windows. Vitaliy was the one that had to work that day, and yet, I was the crabby one. We decided that we’d go out to breakfast before he had to leave. I threw on my most comfiest clothes and looked in the mirror. “OMG! I am so fat!” Isn’t that the dialogue going through every woman’s mind when she is crabby but has to get dressed? Thankfully its winter now so I can cover everything up with a big winter coat. That is what I thought to myself. But I was having a hard time covering up the doom and gloom inside that I was feeling. I sat on the bed, probably pouting or something, when Vitaliy walked up to me, held me in his arms, looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Babes, you know it’s my job to make sure you are happy before I leave. So what am I going to have to do to make you smile?” That kind of love will shine the light on any dark heart. That was all it took to make me smile.

Well…until Sunday morning came. I was fine until I left church. How do you go to church and leave crabby? Seriously people, how is that possible? I’m here to confess and repent. It was ugly! Well, I left church and arrived at my destination only to find out that I didn’t have what I needed. It was at home! I’m sure you can all imagine what happens next. That little crabby attitude just took a turn for the worst. I wasn’t a dragon ready to spit fire, but you could compare me to a bull in Spain during the week of the running of the bulls. Ok, I’m exaggerating. But poor Vitaliy did receive the phone call letting him know that I had forgotten something at home and I may have mentioned how upset I was about it. I called when I was close so that he could come out to the car when I pulled up. As I was turning on our street, I could see that he was already outside waiting for me. But when I pulled up closer, I could see what he was wearing and a smile came over my heart. Vitaliy was still in his pajamas and he had his pants pulled up all the way to his chest. It is one of the funniest sights I’ve ever seen and I always ask him to do it. However, normally its in the privacy of our own bedroom. But as he said the previous day, he is willing to do anything to make me smile.

.

This is the inspiration for the “pull the pajamas up to your chest” thing that Vitaliy does. There is history and meaning behind the madness.

P.S. Wasn’t Vitaliy too cute as a child?? Every time I see this picture, I can’t wait to have a little V one day.

OH MY STINKING GOODNESS!!! Look at those socks!!! What a cute little thing you were and are Vitaly! (and I think many a husband should take a lesson from you! –not mine of course, but— Awesome!)

  4. Why would you pull your shorts/underwear so high?

  5. Amy Puettmann

Wow!! Vitaliy — that is all I can say. I really love the picture.

  6. That is soooo funny. I can’t believe you let her post that picture. Those shorts definitely extend farther above the waistline than they do below. There is something seriously wrong with that ratio. But I am glad that this picture has now been entered into the immortal archives of the internets.

Brilliant — I enjoyed reading your wonderful piece of sheer honesty and transparency then when I ame to picture it was so real — pure Ukraine and I loved that too! U’ve come a long way “boy” — as the Beatles used to sing ” its been and long and widey road”. Looking forward to see the trousers/pants up to the armpits in January when we come to see you.

Hey you can take the man out of Ukraine but you can’t take the Ukraine out of the man — Classic!
