Update on Baby William

First, I want to thank each one of you for your prayers and support. I have received so many emails or comments on the blog from friends and people I don’t even know assuring me that they are praying and supporting the Lane family. We are all extremely thankful. Yesterday I received the following update on Facebook in the group “Support William Christopher Lane”. Please feel free to join to receive further updates and see more pictures of the family. Jason, William’s uncle, gave this update that I wanted to share with all of you.

.

Yesterday January 12, 2009, Ronnie and Emily Lane informed the family that starting today January 13, 2009, the doctors would start weaning William Christopher Lane off of the ventilator. By Friday January 16, 2009, the doctors will have a pretty good idea of whether or not William will be able to breathe on his own. If on Friday William can breathe on his own Ronnie and Emily will have to reevaluate the situation to figure out the best plan of action for helping William. The doctors have informed us that because the majority of William’s brain has been killed by the swelling due to the infection, William will never be able to see, hear, or feel, unless there is some kind of miracle that surpasses all human understanding. The reality of the situation is that the doctors give William a 1 in a 100 chance of being able to breathe without a ventilator and if he cannot Ronnie and Emily have come to the decision that on Sunday January 18, 2009, William Christopher Lane will be taken off life support. This is a decision that no parent should ever be asked to make and the entire family stands behind Ronnie and Emily in their choice. Ronnie and Emily have always put their children first and they’re only doing what they believe to be right for William and their family. Please do not give up hope or stop praying for a miracle because our family needs your hope and prayers now more than ever. Thank you all so much for your support through this extraordinarily difficult time for our family. God Bless.

For anyone who is looking to make donations to the Lane family 1st Financial Federal Credit Union has opened an account in William’s honor. 100% of the money raised in this account will be given to Ronnie and Emily to aid them in paying the ever mounting hospital bills and help because Ronnie is on emergency family medical leave from work with no pay. Oh, Dear Candace, I am praying today with such maternal sorrow for this most beautiful and perfect little one. How can we feel any sense of hope when beautiful babies suffer? Only through Hope in the Lord Jesus Christ who loves the little children and sits at the right hand of the Heavenly Father, interceding on their behalf. I believe that Baby William will dance on the streets that are golden, if he is to join his Maker today. But those left behind here still feel the grief and sorrow of this world.

I promise to be praying for Ronnie and Emily and for you and your whole family who must feel so sad. Thank you for including us in the story of this precious boy and may he leave a legacy for generations, even in such a short time.

    Love to you,
    Jennifer

I also promise to keep praying for a MIRACLE that his life is preserved!

  1. […] I planned on writing an update about William Christopher but I thought his two uncles said it best. Below are their words about their beautiful nephew William Christopher. Thank you all so much for your prayers over the past few weeks. So many of you have emailed me asking for updates and I was so encouraged to know that you all were still praying. I can only ask that your prayers continue to be with the Lane family. If you are interested in financially supporting Ronnie and Emily you can find the details here. […]
