Vasya & Olga: I Will

Even though we just launched our blog for Prokopets Stu­dio, our jour­ney actu­ally began back in Feb­ru­ary. We pho­tographed engage­ment pic­tures for Vasya and Olga. They live in Sacra­mento but came down to us to cap­ture the beau­ti­ful sights of San Fran­cisco in their pic­tures. Prob­a­bly the coolest thing about this cou­ple is that they are related to us. Just kid­ding! Vasya grew up with Vitaliy in Cher­nivtsy, Ukraine. I love get­ting together with them because Vasya and Vitaliy love to rem­i­nisce about their child­hood mem­o­ries of chas­ing chick­ens, rid­ing bikes, or tak­ing apart their grandpa’s TV with­out suc­cess­fully putting it back together.

This was our first offi­cial photo shoot and what a bet­ter way to kick things off than with fam­ily. Fam­ily is one of those con­stants in life, the foun­da­tion you can always fall back on when things start spi­ral­ing out. They are always there for you. Vasya and Olga are exactly that kind of fam­ily. I look for­ward to all the mem­o­ries we will make with them.

But here is the start of their own per­sonal fam­ily story — their engagement.

Yes, this is a reflec­tor that is usu­ally posi­tioned in front of the face to reflect the light onto the sub­ject, but Vasya had another pur­pose for it.

This is one of my favorite shots of the day. There is some­thing so roman­tic about it. Kind of reminds of me Sandy and Danny at the beach in the first scene of Grease.
